Physician Assistant - Orthopedic

Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, PC (GLO ) is a multi-specialty group with three locations in St. John, Crown Point and Lowell Indiana. Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, PC offers patients compassion, innovation, and quality care throughout Northwest Indiana and beyond. Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, PC is seeking a full-time Orthopedic Physician Assistant. You will work independently, with physician oversight along with an outstanding, experienced support staff.

Responsibilities include:

• Formulate a diagnosis from assessments conducted within the clinic setting.
• Examine and diagnose patients and develops treatment plans.
• Document treatment plans in the EMR.
• Collaborate with physician and documents physician guidance as needed.
• Coordinate care for patients.
• Perform inpatient and outpatient consults as needed.
• Assist Orthopedic Surgeon in surgery.
• Provide comprehensive and continuing medical care for patients.

· Initiate requests for laboratory tests and x-rays, as appropriate.

· Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis.

· Initiate requests for tests and imaging as appropriate.

· Prescribe medications, as appropriate.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants need to meet the qualifications listed in this posting.

Required Qualifications:

• Physician Assistant license from Indiana.
• Basic Life Support, certified by American Heart Association
• 2+ years relevant clinical experience preferred; will consider recent graduates.
• Ability to communicate with patients, primary care team members and management staff
• Ability to make care decisions based on best medical practices without direct supervision or guidance by a physician
• Basic technical proficiency in the use of computer programs for medical records or internet search for clinical practice
• Advanced assessment and treatment plan implementation skills
• Ability to complete clinical care lifting in a provider office environment
