Summary of Job Duties: Laboratory Analysts evaluate, inspect and test raw materials, finished goods, and materials using laboratory equipment and procedures. They implement new lab methods, perform and assist laboratory testing, and support interdepartmental quality functions. This position is trainee or entry level, performed under minimal to moderate supervision. Specific Job Duties Perform various laboratory analyses of raw materials, finished products, pilot and vendor samples. Become proficient in testing functional groups: HPLC, GC, ICP-MS, Heavy Metals, Microbiology, Botanical ID, and Miscellaneous Chemistry. Train to perform basic procedures such as preliminary troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining analytical instrumentation. Participate in the calibration program for laboratory equipment. Participate in Out of Specification Investigations (OSIs). Assist with compliance to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and other quality control initiatives. Participate in interdepartmental QC functions, including process improvements. Assist with other duties in quality control, including complaint investigations and pilot product evaluations. Perform metric data collection and data review, and compile test results – including data entry and result reporting. Maintain spreadsheets and databases, contribute to and maintain laboratory inventory, and order supplies as needed. Assist in method optimization, implementation, and validation of new lab methods. Once a certified trainer, train peers on lab procedures. Perform all other tasks assigned by Threshold management. Minimum Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail, with experience-based background. Ability to lift 30+ pounds. 20/20 vision or corrected vision. Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or equivalent experience (minimum 2 years lab experience – college coursework applicable). Desired Skills and/or Training Experience in QC or inspection, analytical laboratory experience using chromatographic methods (HPLC, TLC, GC, GC‑MS, LC‑MS, ICP/MS), spectroscopy (FTIR, UV-Vis), microbiological, or general analytical techniques. One to two years of experience in chromatography methods and IR sample preparation in an industrial or academic laboratory. Experience in dietary supplement/GMP environment.
