Job Description

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to patients, including assessment, medication administration, and management of various medical devices and conditions. This role requires proficiency in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, administering IV insulin protocols, and providing comprehensive care for patients with complex diagnoses. The RN will work collaboratively with PCTs and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Administration and titration of insulin drips
- Feeding tube care and management
- Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management
- Blood Product Administration
- Central and Peripheral line care/management
- PICC line management
- Initiating IVs
- Heparin Protocols
- Manage Cardiac drips (no titration)
- PCA management
- Substance Withdrawal management
- Surgical drain management
- Care of Ventilated Patients
- Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- External CPAP/BIPAP management
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
- Nasal Cannula and Oxygen face mask management
- Portable Oxygen tank management
- Non-invasive airway management
- Tracheostomy Management
- Isolation Precautions
- Wound Care/Wound Vac
- Rapid response team activation

Special Considerations:

- Floating to other units within scope of practice is required
- Every other weekend is required
- Call is required as needed
- No local candidates (within 75 miles)
- Navy blue/white scrubs
- RTO should be kept close to 1 week

Scheduling:
- Day/Eve ratios are 5:1 (stretch 6-7)
- Night ratios are expected to be 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in)
- Open to accommodating block schedules, but not guaranteed
- Orientation: 4 hours (modules prior to starting, 4-hour classroom with Educator, remainder of the 12-hour shift spent orienting on the unit)
